Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Andalas Obstetrics and Gynecology Journal (AOJ) undergo a rigorous and structured double-blind peer-review process to ensure the highest standards of academic quality, scientific integrity, and ethical publishing.

  1. Initial Screening

    • Upon submission, each manuscript is evaluated by the editorial office for compliance with the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and ethical guidelines.

    • Manuscripts that fail to meet basic requirements may be returned to authors for revision prior to peer review or may be rejected at this stage.

  2. Editorial Assessment

    • The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Section Editor performs an initial assessment of the manuscript’s originality, significance, and scientific soundness.

    • Only manuscripts deemed suitable are sent for external peer review.

  3. Reviewer Selection

    • At least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise are invited to evaluate the manuscript.

    • The double-blind system ensures that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other, thereby minimizing bias.

  4. Peer Review

    • Reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, ethical standards, clarity of presentation, relevance to the field, and overall contribution to knowledge.

    • Reviewers provide constructive feedback and make recommendations: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.

  5. Editorial Decision

    • The editorial team considers the reviewers’ comments and recommendations.

    • The Editor-in-Chief or assigned Section Editor makes the final decision, which is communicated to the authors.

    • If revisions are required, authors must submit a detailed response letter outlining how they have addressed each reviewer’s comment.

  6. Revision and Resubmission

    • Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the original reviewers to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed.

    • This process may continue through multiple rounds until the manuscript meets the journal’s standards.

  7. Final Acceptance and Copyediting

    • Once accepted, manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, layout, and proofing to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency with the journal’s style.

    • Authors are provided with proofs for final approval prior to publication.

  8. Publication

    • The final version of the manuscript is published online under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), ensuring global open access and visibility.

    • Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for permanent citation and reference.
